The Zunray Spark February 2017

spark feb 2017

Do you imagine setting out on a trip around the world and pack three suitcases full of stuff? Experienced travelers know that if you want to cover great distances it is necessary to travel light and pack only what is indispensable in one single piece of luggage or backpack that you can carry on your own. February´s essential principle for life invites us to simplify, to let go and to possess less. It is not only about having less, but also about knowing how to say good-bye to circumstances, ideas and even to the people that pass through our lives.

My childhood was marked by traveling and adventure. I often times tell that we didn´t settled down in Madrid until I was eleven. That time taught me how to love fully in the present and how to let go freely. Probably one of the best teachings anyone can receive.

5 simple practices for your life to be more with less:

Simplify. A life with less things, less activities and less goals and ambition is more satisfactory because it gives you back a lot of lost energy and time.

Breathe. The breath eternally reminds us that life flows through us and that with each exhale we have the opportunity to let go of all the things that we cling on to with excess attachment.

Do not define yourself by the objects that you surround yourself with (car, house, clothes, job) and ask internally if you can be yourself while being naked.

Nothing and no one belong to you. We are here passing by. You came with nothing and you will leave empty handed. In between we live under the illusion that we have this or that. Try to use less often the possessives “my” or “our”.

Trust. There is nothing to fear. Many times we hold on to things that we don´t need anymore because we are afraid of not having, of losing everything or, simply, because of fear to the unknown.

And in your practice, do less, feel more and enjoy it fully.

See you on the mat, interstellar travelers!

Om Shanti
